RIM sees increase in consumer mobile email
RIM, whose Blackberry handsets have become synonymous with mobile email in the enterprise field, is currently experiencing a strong uptake of their products in the consumer space. Per a recent presentation by Martin Thyssen at the Kista Mobile Showcase, RIM's Q2 2008 numbers showed that 40% of their subscribers are now non-enterprise, and more than 60% of their new subscribers are private / non-enterprise.
Needless to say, new handset models from Blackberry as well as the Apple iPhone, Samsung Omnia, and Nokia's Ovi project among others are helping to raise awareness of the ease of access consumer email accounts on mobiles. Soon email with be as easily accessible on mobiles as it is on the web.

Momail salutes top women in Swedish IT Industry
Interesting and article from IDG today regarding the top women in the Swedish IT Industry (in Swedish), which is also related to a blog entry from What's Next lamenting the same issue. As women conduct more purchases on the web, and communicate more on mobiles via voice, SMS, email, chat, etc - wouldn't it make sense to encourage more women to take active management positions in this industry?

Money saving tips for Sweden
TheLocal, the online english language news site for Sweden, released a helpful list of money saving tips during these economic downtimes. They mentioned some great ideas such as streaming music sites, like Spotify, VoIP services like Skype, biking and keeping on top of deals from grocery stores, movie theaters, and travel sites.
The missed a few though!
Some additional ideas specifically for mobile users are below:
First, check with your mobile company about possible flat rate data plans. Most operators offer them, but you need to do a little research to find the plan best for you.
Second, "upgrade" your handset to have smartphone-like features with services like Momail. Momail is smart mobile email for consumers - free to use, minimizes the data cost of incoming data, and works on the large majority of handsets in the market today.
Third, leverage other cost-saving measures, like calling with services such Jajah which leverage VoIP to minimized long distance bills. It's super easy to use with Momail as well - just go to "On Demand" services in your Momail account to sign up.

iPhone users love Momail
Over the last 6 months, iPhone users have signed up for Momail at a much higher rate than for other handsets. As the feedback on the native iPhone mail client has been positive, this sign-up rate has surprised us at Momail - so we'd love your feedback as to why you - as Momail on iPhone users - prefer Momail over the native application.
Thus far, feedback we have received from iPhone users on why they prefer Momail include:
- better access to Hotmail on iPhones
- minimized data usage
- overall ease of use
Do you have additional suggestions? We look forward to your feedback! Leave a comment, or email us at support@momail.com.
(other top phones of Momail in Europe users include the Nokia N95, N73, 5200 and 6300, the SonyEricsson K800i, K750i, W200i, K550i, and the Samsung E250).
