Momail on Blackberry's?

Yes, it's true!

Though Momail is focused on the consumer market, we have a number of Blackberry customers who are interested in using our service. Therefore, below is a brief tutorial:

1. Register for Momail at www.momail.xx (where xx is your country domain).

2. Then go to the Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) - via web or WAP

3. Choose "add email account"

4. Enter your Momail username and password

... and you are ready to go!

Look forward to hearing your feedback. If questions, please contact us.

(also more information about setting up webmail on your Blackberry generally can also be found on the Crackberry site)

Operators recognizing need for optimized data

Per this entry on Fierce Mobile IT, iPhone data traffic is clogging AT&T's data pipes, as the "iPhone lacks the data compression technology found in RIM's BlackBerry devices".... and in Momail's service. Though iPhone users are using the iPhone for more than email, using Momail for email on these devices (and over 1000 other models of course!) can help operators save space and therefore money... always a good thing.

As Momail's technology optimizes email by up to 99% and works on consumer handsets - the service saves consumers money as well... even better!

Email tops on mobile handsets

I seemed to have missed this article from the summer, but according to a recent survey by independent research firm Amplitude Research, email was one of the most requested services to have on handsets (by 63% of the respondents). We knew that - but helpful research to back that hypothesis! More information may be found in this article from Fierce Wireless.

Momail on iPhones

Both the iPhone 3G and the "old" iPhone are very popular among our users - both because of ease of use as well as our mail optimization (eg, "smaller" mails require less data usuage and enable faster delivery). If you'd also like to set Momail up on your iPhone, just follow these directions below:

Click on Settings > Mail > Add Account.

Choose Other.

Out of your preference click on IMAP or POP.

Fill in name, e-mail address and description.

Host name for incoming is imap.momail.xx or pop.momail.xx (xx being your country domain)

Host name for outgoing is smtp.momail.xx

User name and password is the same for both incoming and outgoing.

If you, after filling in the information, is asked to try with SSL, then accept this.

The iPhone should let you know that it is not possible to connect. This is okay. It may also take up to several minutes before this message comes up so please have a little patience.

After this step, proceed to Advanced (unless you managed to do this before (if) it asked you to try with SSL).

Here you turn off SSL for both Incoming and Outgoing.

Also make sure that the Outgoing port is 2525.

Authentication should be set to Password.
